Petite, yet strong might be the best way to describe TEMPO Racine

Racine is a community of around 100,000 situated on the shores of Lake Michigan between Chicago and Milwaukee with Madison to the west.

Our geographic and business base offers us both challenges and opportunities. We are small in comparison to the manufacturing and business community size of Milwaukee or Chicago. At the same time, we have opportunities that being smaller and more flexible provide. This also translates into less total numbers of women in leadership positions.

Within these parameters, TEMPO Racine arose out of an event that was being held to welcome a new female business executive to our community. The question asked by the executive was, “Do you have a TEMPO chapter or other organization that looks to women in leadership?” Several community members in attendance asked, “What is TEMPO”. Upon learning more, their collective response was, “We need a TEMPO chapter here!”

TEMPO RACINE made an early decision that we look to Community Leadership and Community Service as key indicators of a woman’s accomplishments. Our application qualifiers speak specifically to this as well as the areas of education and business accomplishments.
